Smart Travel 2020: Festival of Intelligence

It is the most important and oldest event of smart cities and smart tourism in Portugal and one of the most recognized events globally and it has already habituated us, since 2014, to have the best international speakers on stage.

In this year’s edition, due to the pandemic, the event will be online, but the quality remains, and we hope that the streaming platform we are preparing is interactive and captures the interest of the public.

Smart Travel 2020, from 3 to 5 December, will focus on some specific topics.

At the international level, the changes that Covid-19 forced to implement, the consequences for cities, residents, visitors, and businesses.

We will have the case studies of the Manifesto Market with Martin Barry, the resilience of Milan with Piero Pelizzaro, the “cities 15 minutes” and the case of Paris with Carlos Moreno, international travel and the impacts on the sector with Dimitrios Buhalis, the lessons learned from other events with Inga Hlin Palsdottir, the case study and the smart tourism strategy of the city that gives name to one of the most famous drinks in the whole world, Tequila, with Federico De Arteaga Vidiella, the relations between the West and China in delicate times, with Sasha Qian and the factors that may make the difference when choosing a destination, whether to live or visit with Jonathan Reichental among many others.

At the national level, the usual highlight for low-density territories and islands. Smart Travel, being an event of Bragança, a small city in the interior of the country, is also a time for reflection to find alternatives and guarantee the quality of life for those who want to choose a new destination to live and work.

Finally, culture, entrepreneurship, and sustainability which, in times of pandemic, have also become very important topics.
