History Heritage, Art and Culture

História, Património, Arte e CulturaDESCRIPTION
History and modernity intersect almost fantastic way. Ancient buildings and modern reconstructions, signed by renowned architects, as the architect Souto Moura, reveal that Bragança is history and it's culture, it is tradition and modernity.
Bragança is also culture. Living the Christmas season in many localities of the northeastern is returning to the ancient Pagan celebrations. It is perhaps one of the few linkages that remains, after two millennia of Christianity, the cyclical ritual of agrarian Midwinter festivities in honor of the Sun or the Spring and praise to Mother Nature. All elements of the celebrations, in the period between Christmas and Epiphany, report in to the old solstitial celebrations. Pagan feasts that would eventually be "Christianized" and that survived in harmonious coexistence with the Christian celebration of the Nativity of the saints or the first martyrs of the Magi. The sacred character before the pagan celebrations had eventually become the profane current celebrations. (A. Pinelo Tiza)
The MASCARARTE is a tribute to the culture and tradition of this territory, a moment of promotion of the mask and all the mystique associated with it..

14:00pm – Citadel of Bragança: Domus Municipalis, Castle, Church of Santa Maria, Military Museum and Museum of the Mask

Navel of the World
Scroll through thousands of years of history in the Morais Massif is the proposal of the park, which is being implemented in Macedo de Cavaleiros and that provides a trip to the navel of the World. On the Planet, there are only five more places like this. What is called the navel of the World is an area which has resulted in a process of collision of masses that originated a mountain range, called by scientists by Orógeno Varisco suture, nothing more than the place of Morais.
